Be sure to check out the threads in the Roliana Forum!
~Saber:
What inspired you to make your event?
-[Lemon]:
Well, my actual prom was coming up and I was so excited for it that I thought maybe it would be fun to have one here on Roli. It's been pretty slow lately and I think we all need something extra to keep us motivated for posting and just overall having a good time.
~Saber:
What would you like to see happen?
-[Lemon]:
I would like to:
- have some creative and original contests that people will be able to enter as well as maybe some of the classic ones like making an avatar, etc.
- see people dressing for the occasion~
- have some awesome extras that have not been used much on Roli. Perhaps a slide show of memories or something
- create a masterpiece of an event~
~Saber:
Will you have any contests (prom king/queen/court or best dressed cutest couple etc)
-[Lemon]:
Yes we will! We have thought of some creative and original ideas already, including prom king and queen.
We may have people nominate them and then have a poll :3
Speaking of! Nominations should start soon :O
~Saber:
Will there be a dress code?
-[Lemon]:
Well, there is going to be a theme, if that's what you mean
I think the theme is pretty flexible though, but it's a surprise!
~Saber:
Have you had any issues making this happen?
-[Lemon]:
Hmm.. well I haven't had very much time to come up with more ideas since I have exams coming up shortly; however, we have a few that we think people will like :B
Oh and prizes xD
But I haven't really started with that yet.
~Saber:
Are you looking for any kind of help? (we can advertise for you XD)
-[Lemon]:
Yes, actually xD
If anyone is interested in helping with ideas or planning and stuff like that, I would like them to pm me
And yes, advertising would be a great help!

sitophobia (sy-tuh-FO-bee-uh) noun
Morbid aversion to food.
[From Greek sito- (food) + -phobia (fear, aversion).]
The word is also spelled as sitiophobia. Two related words are sitomania
(abnormal craving for food), and sitology (the study of nutrition).
"By the time (Mollie) Fancher took to her bed, sitophobia had turned
into 'chlorosis', a type of anaemia."
Kate Bolick; The Girl Who Lived On Air; The Guardian (London, UK);
May 6, 2002.
"To lower a child's weight is important, but (Jitsuo) Kitada warns
there are pitfalls in dieting as it places children in danger of
contracting sitophobia."
Overweight Children a 'Growing' Concern For Japanese Parents;
The Daily Yomiuri (Tokyo, Japan); Jul 6, 1996.
Cotton-picking
Meaning
A general term of disapproval, of something that is troublesome or a nuisance.
Origin
It can come as as little surprise that the term 'cotton-picking' originated in the southern states of the USA, where it is usually pronounced cotton-pickin'. It began life in the late 1700s and differs from the 19th century Dixie term, 'cottonpicker', in that the latter was derogatory and racist, whereas 'cotton-picking' referred directly to the difficulty and harshness of gathering the crop. This didn't extend to the specific expression 'keep your cotton-picking hands off of me'. This no doubt alludes to the horny, calloused (and, of course, black) hands that picked cotton.
Of course, 'cotton-picking' must have been in use as an English adjectival phrase for as long as English-speaking people have picked cotton. There are numerous citations of 'cotton-picking' seasons/jobs/machines etc. since the late 1700s. J & E Pettigrew's Letters has an early example, from 1795:
'One of the students was banished... for going to a cotton picking after eight at Knight.'
Manual cotton picking was tough work. The southern expression 'cutting in high cotton', which means 'have it easy', refers to the relatively easy task of cutting cotton without having to bend down.
Our folk memory of grizzled cowboys in Hollywood B-features 'fixin to run that cotton-picking greenhorn outta town' etc., might give us cause to think that the use of 'cotton-picking' as a figurative term originated in the 19th century wild west. In fact, it didn't, and it doesn't even seem to have been spoken in any of Hollywood's numerous early cowboy movies. It isn't until the 1940s that the term began to be used in any other context than that of the actual picking of cotton. The earliest such reference that I have found is in the Pennsylvania newspaper, The Daily Courier, November 1942:
It's just about time some of our Northern meddlers started keeping their cotton-picking fingers out of the South's business.
Where memory doesn't play tricks is when recalling the works of the sainted Bugs Bunny. While not originating the term, Bugs can claim to have done more to fix it into the language than the rest of rabbitkind, especially in its most often used form 'Wait just a cotton-picking minute'. There's an example in Bully for Bugs, 1953:
"Just a cotton-pickin' minute, this don't look like the Coachella Valley to me!"
Quotes
I am accustomed to sleep and in my dreams to imagine the same things that lunatics imagine when awake.
- Rene Descartes , French Mathematician / Philosopher
Just carrying a ruler with you in your pocket should be forbidden, at least on a moral basis. The ruler is the symbol of the new illiteracy. The ruler is the symptom of the new disease, disintegration of our civilisation.

We had a chance to sit down and talk to Living Dead Doll on her thread the Item Locations in stores(New Releases)
Luvly: Hi Doll what made you think of making this thread?
Doll: I first decided to make this thread after I like many others fell in love with the new shop items and was curious as to where all the new items were in the shop.
I don't remember it as clearly, but when I was looking through the items in the shops I decided "If this is going to help me, why can't I help others at the same time?"
Luvly: What process do you go through to make sure the thread is up to date and how hard is it to make sure it up to date?
Doll: I generally wait until I've heard from Oli that all new items have been added to shops before proceeding to go through each shop and find the new items noting the item name, and the price. I then go back and link the page numbers to the exact page the items can be found on.
It is not a hard process, takes me about half an hour to get the links, location, prices all updated.
Depending on the time that Oli releases the new shop items and the time in Australia I will sometimes ask a fellow staff member for help with the item, price and page. I will then fix the page links when I log in the next time.
Luvly: Have you heard feed back from the users whether this is a helpful thread or not?
Doll: Yep, I sure have. Generally people who use my guide leave a thank you note, which I greatly appreciate.
Luvly:In the future are you planing on making an changes to your thread. Do you feel you need to change anything to make the thread even more helpful?
Doll: At this time no. The only future change I can think off the top of my head is changing the banner, I am no longer a zombie so my banner needs a change (:
I may change the layout of the items and the links at a later stage but currently I am happy with the way its set up.
Luvly: Is there anything you would like to tell the Roliana public about your thread and hopes and wishes you want them to know about the thread?
Doll: My thread is here to help. It is a great resource for all and I am always open to suggestions, so if you have any suggestions on how to improve it let me know!
If you have any queries on where to find a certain item (both old and new) feel free to post in the thread. (:
I hope the thread helps everyone out in some way. The thread's main purpose is to eliminate the time one has to search through the shops for all the new items. Which I hope and believe it is doing (:
I am always open to conversation there as well so feel free to stop by if you ever want to chat. The more faces the merrier!
Luvly: Thank you Doll ^^

While you might think that the forums are a bit slow lately, you've really just been thinking a bit too fast! Be patient, and make sure not to get too stressed out if everyone else isn't keeping up with you.
Now that summer's almost here, your schedule should be opening up more! Try investing all this newly found free time into running a fun hangout or charity.
Start saving up your gold; there's a huge chance of there being a few sets added that you won't be able to resist buying!
Make sure that you don't let too much work pile up on you. If you run an art shop, cut down on the slots for this week.
It's time for some change! Design a dream avatar that's completely different from what you normally do, and then stick to it! You'll be happy with the finished results, and other people will think that you look great!
Your creativity juices will be flowing soon! Invest some time into writing a story or joining a roleplay; it'll keep you on your toes and let you shake off some stress.
You might want to look into hiring a personal platinum supplier! The next set of temple items will be something you're interested in, and you don't want to let the fast marketplace keep them from you.
You know that forum you never visit? Whether it is the New Here forum or the Video Games forum, there's someone there who could possibly be your next best friend!
.A bidding war in the marketplace will land you a great deal, but only if you remember to be polite about the whole situation!
Real life may be getting to you right now, but don't let that bring out the worst in you. Go into lurking mode for a little while until you can cool down.
With all the new members joining the site, don't let sporadic spam attacks get your goat. Instead, help out a little. Be nice when telling someone off --- being a jerk doesn't make anyone listen to you.
Be prepared to keep your cool when someone misunderstands the context of your post.

-Saber Alli: So how did your hangout come about? Especially how did you come up with the name?
-[Sexual Pancake]: The name came out from a thread I saw in GaiaOnline named "Dirty Little Secrets" which was a way way different kind of thread. It was a thread to post secrets and nothing else, so I came up with Dirty Thoughts, and made it a more friendly place where you can chat.
Since I registered in Roliana I felt like it was way too innocent around and I wanted a place where I could hang with friends and just be open about sexuality and stuff like that (We keep ourselves in a good level though, no one got banned so far).
-Saber Alli: So do ya'll have any contests or specialties?
-[Sexual Pancake]Well, we don't have contests and the only thing I could call specialty is that you can get your own title for fun
But I'll make sure to think some contest for the future, it's hard to find a contest to match the hangout style y'know..
-SaberAlli: And what is your favorite/funniest moment or conversation you've had in the hangout?
-[Sexual Pancake]: And second question I'll answer with a quote of one of my regulars:
| Abisian wrote: |
you can't pinpoint one moment; there are so many, and the place is one big huge honkin' thread of fun, and made of pure win, that it lives in one big gas ball of funny and favoritism.

(xD)
-Saber Alli: I think that is an awesome note to end on, but is there anything else you would like to add?
-[Sexual Pancake]: Well, I'd like to say that everyone is welcome in Dirty Thoughts since we're warm and nice people. We're not a bunch of sick perverts and there's nothing to be afraid of, promise xD.
Yuki Pandaz's 100g=1g Scrapbook Art Shop
1) How did you come up with the idea to open your art shop?
Well actually it was all from when I first started here on Roliana about a year and a half ago, I saw the 100g-1g charity shop and course I started talking in there making friends with pink_punk_goddess, the owner, I already had my own shop but once I became a mod for the charity I proposed the idea of me opening a shop to help the charity where all the gold made from the art would go to the store. Though Pink is to nice so it settled on a 50/50 cut from the gold that came from the shop and that's basically how it started out, although as the charity died a little from Pink's absence. So did the shop until recently when I got a pm from her telling me she was back, at that i wanted to reopen the shop and I did.
2) What are your preferred materials for completing your art?
Hmm...That's a hard one. To be honest I like to finish of picture with digital just because it can look cleaner and I can get better effects out of it then i can with traditional, that and also I have my very much loved Wacom tablet now which I've been wanting for so long, but that may change as I'm starting to get more into traditional art and getting better at colouring with my markers. ^_^
3) Out of all the pieces you have completed in your shop so far, have you a favourite? and why?
Hmm well including artworks from the previous shop I'd have to say that my most recent artwork that I just did for Derehannah12 is my most favourite, just because i can see my own improvement in it and it's just one that worked for me when i was sketching it.
4) Have you got any words of advice for those wanting to start up their own art shop? and how to keep it active.
I've Always found personally that shops that look good, easy to understand, and have a nice layout work well, I like to keep my shops nice a short and simple so you don't find your self reading forever just to find the samples or the prices. Also a nice banner at the top catches the readers attention and gives them a small sample of your artwork.
Thankyou for your time Yuki.

Eternal Love
By: LilEmz
Chapter Three
A drunken haze crept up on Madison as she downed another martini, intoxicating her further and giggled with her friends, bragging about her ring. Hours passed, and she was soon staggering outside the club, stillettos clacking on the cold concrete pavement. "I'll be alright to drive babes, see ya dolls!" She slurred before stumbling into her car. Her head span as the glare of street lights taunted her eyes. She wasn't observing the road or her speed whatsoever. Suddenly, her mobile phone chirped with "Blake" flashing continuously. Madison attempted to steer whilst operate her phone and appear somewhat sober to Blake. She failed, "Alwight B?" She stuttered down the phone.
"No I am not alright. I am waiting for my fiancee to come home at one in the morning. Are you drunk?" He interrogated worriedly.
"Nah, just a little tipsy. I'm on my way home now, just driv-" BEEEEP! A car sounded as she swerved and collided into a lorry. Her car toppled over and her frail body slammed into the steering wheel, inducing unconsciousness. Crimson blood descended from her pale face.
"Hello? MADS! What happened?" Blake desperately shrieked down the phone.
Chapter Four
Blake collapsed into tears when he saw her motionless, icy frame laying in the hospital bed. Bruises sprinkled randomly on her blue tinted skin. Purple veins rose to the surface of her face. "Goodbye...Mads. I'll always love you. My fiancee," He choked whilst squeezing her cold hand, half expecting her ocean blue eyes to open and for her to laugh at him, calling him a soppy old date. However, nothing happened, and he sat next to her in the dimly lit room, salty tears impairing his vision. Her once shiny curls were limp and a mud brown instead of the rich chocolate he recognised.
Weeks passed in a blur due to a cocktail of alcohol and anti-depressants. He had deprived himself of sleep and food. He was a shadow of his former self. His energetic eyes were now tired and had the addition of indigo sacks underneath them. He simply existed, dormant. His heart was broken yet his emotions were still diluted with shock.
One night, he drifted in and out of a light sleep. His face moist with tears, when a familliar voice called his name and a slender figure journeyed towards him. "Madison? Madison!" His emerald eyes ignited in a spark, he gazed in awe as her lips began to open, and she started to speak.
"It's me, Mads. I just want to say how sorry I am Blake, I miss you so much up here. It's ironic really, because it's like I am in Hell really- because I am without you. I was so stupid that night, and I am thankful that nobody else got hurt. I love you." She whispered sincerely.
"It's okay Madison, I love you too, and we'll be together soon..."
Into the Dark, Part 1
By NightBear
One last kick. One last start. One last time.
Everything around faded into nothing. Only one item occupied my mind.
I step into the light, wings wide open. With nothing to cover me, the light beat against my skin, soaking away all my shadows.
They lied. There was nothing here but light. Why did I ever agree? I was safe inside my darkness.
I turned around to go back but my darkness was gone. Nothing but white now surrounded me.
I'm now lost. Lost inside the last bit of light in my heart.
~*~
My eyes fluttered open. I found myself in a dark room. All I could see was the moonlight that seeped though the curtains on the window. Where am I?
I laid there quietly, waiting. My body felt heavy. I tried to sit up but everything seemed to be in the way: my arms, my legs, everything.
Finally, I succeeded in sitting up. My eyes adjusted to the darkness. How strange. Usually I don't need to adjust to the dark, I can just see in it as if it were daylight.
There was a mirror in front of me. I can see faintly into it. The dark obscured my vision. I can see an outline of a figure. It was probably mine but I didn't recognize it. I reached up to my head with my hand, feeling and grabbing bunches on hair. It felt like I had a cloth on my head. A really short cloth that covered my ears.
The only thing that felt lighter was my back. I stretched my wings to find them gone. I ended up only stretching my back. Where am I?

Dear Editor:
Lately I have seen a lot of users joining Roliana and finding it difficult to acclimatize to the economy. The main concerns seem to be focused around gold and making it easier to obtain and for those who frequent the ‘How are we Doing?’ forum comments such as; “Games should grant gold unlimitedly!” and “It is too hard to make gold!” are the norm as of late. The typical response to these comments are that our economy is different, that the system is unique and that compared to other sites our items are substantially less in value and therefore easier to obtain without the use of earning more gold for games, posting or doing other various things on the site. However, I really think some more time should be spent pointing out in more detail the success of our economy and just how sensible the current methods of earning gold are. This, in hope that it will offer a little more credit where it is due and possibly clear up some of the conflicting interests surrounding the economy and the concerns about our gold earning system.
When I first joined Roliana of course some of the items which were featured monthly items or event items of course sold for less gold than they do today. However, taking a closer look at just how much the items have increased can tell you a lot about the stability of our economy. For example, when I first joined Roliana the featured items were the Little Devil and Little Angel, which at the time sold for approximately five hundred gold each during the month they were released which was April of 2008. Today, these items sell for approximately 2.5k to 4.5k. Even if we take the highest listed price in the regulated Official Price Guide which is currently as of June 28th, 2009 5k in value, the items have only gone up an average of 300g per month and that is at the highest possible value. In reality, the estimated inflation of these items is actually within the 100g – 175g range. The average inflation rate of items on some other sites ranges from the tens of thousands to the millions every month.
Keeping those numbers in mind I want to point out that different sites currencies are different in value to one another. People often forget that when they join Roliana it is like moving to another country, the currency may be worth more or it may be worth less than other sites but the items will also fluctuate in value and price as well. If items on one site are valued in the millions, it does not make since that you would earn only 15 gold per post and be able to play Games only once a day. How could you ever save enough in your lifetime? However, if an item is valued at approximately 60k such as Roliana’s current most expensive item the Angel Wings it also does not make since that you would earn 100g per post either. This is the way the economy works in the real word and it works the same in the online community world as well and these important facts keep getting overlooked when people judge too quickly new communities such as Roliana without doing a little basic math.
Thus far Roliana’s members and its staff have worked very hard to ensure that the economy does not fluctuate irregularly. However, progress does bring forth some increases in demand which will naturally bring forth an increase in value for certain items and currencies such as platinum. Overall however the community has remained quite stable do the joint efforts of the staff using the Official Price Guide and Report for the Price Guide to regulate and educate members on current acceptable rates and the efforts of the members of the site who utilize these resources in their own personal attempts to fight inflation. The little things that we do as a community help make Roliana the stable, welcoming place that it is and I do hope that in the future we remain equally if not more committed to maintaining our current levels of high standards for our economy and the site overall. I also hope that new users will take the time to really give the site a chance, ask questions, get familiarized and then make an educated and fair assessment of the site. I really think if the new members coming to the site give Roliana a chance and really get to know the community they would feel the same way as I did when I first joined and feel at home when they come here in our forums.
Sincerely yours;
Economy Lover.
